A Practical Summer List for Sensitive People, Part 2
🔥 You've Got Troubles, I've Got 'Em Too 🔥
Hi!
I’m back with Part 2 of my Summer Links. In case you missed Part 1, you can find it here. I shared some of my summer survival picks for those of us who get a little dysregulated by travel, loose routines, pool bags, heat, snacks, sunscreen, and the general chaos of June.
For Part 2, I’m rounding up summer clothing and accessories, Father’s Day gift ideas, and a whole bunch of outdoor survival needs, especially for those of us cursed with being mosquito magnets.
Full disclosure: these are Amazon affiliate links. Sharing things I genuinely use and like is one of the ways I’m able to support my family through this work, and I only include things I’d tell you about whether or not there was a commission attached. If you buy something, I earn a small amount at no extra cost to you. If you don’t, I hope the list is still useful.
It also helps me if you click on my links, even if you decide not to purchase. And, because I am apparently in my brave and vulnerable era, you can see my full Amazon storefront and all the reviews I’ve done here. (I’m always open to talking about my experience with off and onsite Amazon reviews if you’re interested.)
Summer Clothing ☀️

Summer clothes are tricky because it’s hot as crap here and freezing cold inside. My highly sensitive self almost always chooses comfort.
Bonus Link because I could not figure out how to post an image of this bra without it looking incredibly inappropriate and awkward. This bra was a recommendation after a recent girls’ weekend and I highly recommend it.
Two-Piece Skirt and Top Set
I wore this to Cora’s recital and on my anniversary date, and I think it worked well for both. I have it in the smoky blue color, but it comes in tons of colors.
Linen Shortall Overalls
I still love these linen shortalls. They are comfy but feel slightly nicer than athletic shorts, which are usually my default setting.
Sunglasses
I feel a little dumb recommending these specific sunglasses, but I’m about to try this style and I really do love this brand. Am I too old? Are the youngs making fun of my sunglasses no matter what?
Birkenstock-Style Sandals
My friend Tara had the real version of these Birks when we traveled together recently, and I loved how they looked. I decided to try these dupes before splurging, and I LOVE THEM. They are so comfortable, and I like how they look with everything.
Skort
This skort is one of my summer go-tos. My recommendation is to size up.
Swimsuit and Sarong Set
My friend Emily wore this swimsuit and sarong set to the pool last summer, and we all LOST OUR MINDS because it was so cute.
Mosquito Magnets SOS 🆘
A couple of summers ago, I shared about my journey/curse/nightmare of being a person who is apparently irresistible to the mosquito mafia. Mosquitos love whatever I’m selling, and they leave their mark on me in the form of huge welts that itch for days. I know it’s called Skeeter Syndrome and also that is the dumbest name for a very real thing. I am not a doctor, nor do I watch doctors on TV because I have health anxiety, so please take what you will from my suggestions.

Deep Woods OFF Dry
If you are really prone to mosquito bites, I don’t know of another bug spray that really and truly prevents bites except for the ones with Deet. I prefer the dry spray. I hate having to shower off after I use it but I have to do that no matter which bug spray I use.
Dynatrap
My bug guy recommended this years ago. I keep it on the patio in the summer and I do think it helps. Pricey but worth it for me.
Irish Spring Soap
I actually forgot that this had been recommended to me as a tip. Adding it back to my shower routine just in case.
Nature Shield Roll-On
I like this brand of oils (so much more affordable than others) and this is a great addition if I’m just outside for a few minutes.
Buggy Bands
Same with these bands. Not a long-term solution but great for keeping in the car or walking to check the mail. You think I’m joking unless this is your life.
Bug Fans
These are great for the summer patio for flies and mosquitos. Highly recommend if you’re planning on any outdoor meals this year!
Father’s Day Gift Ideas 🎁
Father’s Day gifts can be tricky, especially if the person you’re buying for does not need another novelty grill spatula or a mug that says something about being the boss of the remote.

Mini Chainsaw
Everyone loves this little powerhouse.
Neck Fan
This is great for anyone who spends time outside watching summer sports or working in the yard.
Cultural Studies Bible
I got this for Corey for Christmas, and it’s a good one for someone who likes history, context, theology, or understanding more of the world behind the text.
Car Phone Charger with Multiple Cords
This is especially helpful if you are currently a mixed-use iPhone family like we are. Some people have newer phones, some people have older phones, and some of us are asking why we still have the oldest phone.
Tabletop Solo Stove
No one is building a big bonfire in the summer, right?
Bird Feeder with Camera
We’re old now and we like birds. That’s all.
That’s it for Part 2.
As always, none of these things are magic. They will not make summer effortless, prevent every mosquito bite, regulate your children, or turn any of us into breezy linen-clad women who casually remember to reapply sunscreen.
But sometimes the little things help and I’m already scheming for Part 3.
Hope something here makes your summer feel a little easier.
Happy summer, friends. ☀️
